Per the recommendations of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, SleepScore is one of the few companies that validate their methods in scientific articles that are readily available on their website. The app launched in June 2018, and its technology (developed by academic researchers before it was licensed to SleepScore) is the result of more than 12 years of scientific research. We also like how open SleepScore is about its science. Of course, if you suspect a medical issue, you should see your doctor for actual treatment SleepScore’s Doctor Report feature prints out 30 days’ worth of data that you can take to your appointment. The advice on good sleep hygiene, distilled from scientific publications and sleep textbooks and verified by an internal team of scientists, wasn’t particularly earth-shattering (for example: avoid alcohol and screen time too soon before bed), but it was nice to have some direction. (The free version doesn’t provide customized advice or a record of personal trends, and it shows you only the past seven days of sleep, so we think the premium version is worth shelling out for.) Both of us selected “perfect your sleep” as our goal in the premium version of the app, but it also offers six other options to choose from, including “sleep longer,” “wake up less,” and “sharpen my mind.” Our choice, in turn, placed us on an “improve your sleep hygiene path” and led us to a list of sleep-optimizing strategies, such as avoiding heavy or high-acidity meals. The premium version of SleepScore, priced at $50 per year or $6 per month, was also the only phone app we tested that allowed us to set a goal and advised us on how to achieve it. Useful extras: We also preferred apps that offered a smart alarm, which wakes you up during light sleep at an interval of your choosing so you feel less groggy alarm sounds beyond the usual jolting phone ring and, in some cases, lulling snooze sounds (like a Sleep Sheep for grown-ups).It’s always smart to be vigilant, just as you would with other health trackers: Don’t share your sleep info on social media without understanding the privacy policy of those third-party platforms, and if you want to cancel your app subscription, email customer service and ask the company to delete your information completely. And while you’re also able to opt out of any personal data sharing you’re uncomfortable with, in doing so you may lose out on some features of the app. Keep in mind, however, that keeping aggregate data completely private is particularly difficult, as explained in this FTC blog post. If they planned to use our data to inform their research and improve their products, we expected it to be aggregated and anonymous. Serious privacy and security policies: We looked for companies that could confirm that our data would be encrypted and not shared with third parties. As Winter explained, “If you simply want to get an idea whether, say, you get better sleep at your place or your boyfriend’s, then it doesn’t have to be that precise.” For this reason, although accuracy and precision were important considerations for us, they weren’t our top concern. Realistically, most apps don’t do that-and you don’t really need them to. Ideally, the app could provide a reading down to the minute. Accuracy and precision: We looked for apps that could give reasonably good readings for when we fell asleep, when we woke, how often we woke up during the night, and when we entered various sleep stages.“But when a sleep tracker says you’ve had too little deep sleep, most people aren’t sure what to do with that.” We looked for trackers that gave advice or put the data in context, reminding people to get to bed more consistently, for instance, or letting them know when they may be sleep deprived. “If a pedometer registers 1,400 steps at 2 p.m., you know exactly what you need to do-go out for a walk,” Winter said. Actionable advice: Without offering solid direction as to how you can get better sleep, these apps are just platforms for spitting out graphs. Clearly labeled x- and y-axes and reports in everyday English are a huge help at 5:30 in the morning. Ease of interpretation: Multicolored graphs look impressive, but they’re useless if they require a doctorate in statistical analysis to understand. We also preferred apps that allowed us to set our phone on a nightstand as opposed to on the bed. Ease of use: We wanted to be able to easily figure out exactly where to tap to set the alarm (as opposed to swiping from screen to screen, frantically trying to set things up), how to tell whether the app was tracking already, how to shut off the alarm, and so on. Instead of filling customer information by the client’s last name, each person who buys something from Artisan gets a custom number, for life. Instead, the plan is to keep making custom. At this point the company really doesn’t have “stock” offerings. It does not make irons, hybrids or woods, and Taylor has no plans for creating those types of clubs.Īrtisan’s scale is tiny, and Taylor wants it to stay small. Artisan provides high-end custom fitting services to golfers, encouraging players to bring their previously purchased clubs if they need to be tweaked, more precisely fit or customized with designs and paint.Īrtisan is also a boutique wedge- and putter-maker. This time, however, things for Taylor and his crew are going to be very different. Founded in 2017, Artisan Golf operates out of the same facility where Nike clubs were made.Ī post shared by Artisan Golf LLC on at 3:05pm PDT Taylor and some of his former co-workers were able to buy from Nike the machines needed to make golf clubs, many of which they had built themselves, and start a business. He walked up to me and softly put his hand on my shoulder, looked me in the eye and said, ‘I just want you to know that decision probably hurt me more than anybody.’ That dried up a lot of the feelings that I was holding on to.”Īs the cliché goes, from a hardship sprang an opportunity. “I was not bitter, but I guess I was in shock. “I did not realize until that day that I still bared the burdens of what happened,” Taylor said. At that event, Nike founder Phil Knight saw Taylor and made a beeline toward him to talk. “But it was inspiring and continued to fuel our passion, because a lot of that was driven by how well the players liked the stuff and their fear of not having more of it.”Īfter that job was done, Woods requested that Taylor come to New York City in October 2016 to attend the Tiger Woods Foundation’s 20th anniversary celebration. “We were making things at a pace that we weren’t really used to,” Taylor said. In the weeks that followed, Taylor and a handful of others were tasked with creating an inventory of equipment that Nike’s staff players could use until they found clubs made by other manufacturers. In August 2016, Nike announced it no longer would make golf equipment. #Madeintexas #artisan #resume #comingsoon #history #craft #rightway #madetoorder #gameusedĪ post shared by Artisan Golf LLC on at 6:39pm PDTĪfter Impact Golf was acquired by The Swoosh, Taylor helped create wedges and irons for players such as Rory McIlroy, Paul Casey, Tiger Woods and Michelle Wie at The Oven, Nike’s golf research and development facility in Fort Worth, Texas. 30 years and counting working with thousands of the best players, multiple #GOATS □included. He started to become obsessed with the thought of obtaining Ciel's soul and Alois's soul became less important to him.Įventually Claude killed Alois, after Trancy confessed to him his love. With one single taste, he started to understand Michaelis's attachment. He tried it out, out of curiosity, wanting to see why Sebastian cared about his soul so much. However, Claude's feelings for Alois changed after tasting Ciel Phantomhive's blood. Trancy became attached to a spider demon and started to subconsciously fall in love with him. Faustus felt more and more respect for his master. Claude looked him in the eyes and answered honestly "I want to greedily devour you to the very end, master".Īlois and Claude lived together for a long time. Once, Alois asked Faustus, "why does he listen to every single thing he says?". It was the first time, when Claude was truly impressed by his new contractee. "Just killing him is not enough.(…)I want to give him a pain more intense than death, and to do that, I will target his young master, Ciel, with whom he's so infatuated" - that was Trancy's answer. Since that moment, Claude became Trancy's demon/butler and Alois his contractee/master.Īfter the former Earl's death, Claude asked Alois, why did he request Ciel instead of wishing for Sebastian's death. Alois gave Faustus an order to bring the current Sebastian's contractee - Ciel Phantomhive to him. He finally found his wish, after Claude told him about the other demon, Sebastian, who allegedly destroyed Jim's village, following the terms of his contract with a former master. Some time later, Jim Macken became Alois Trancy, the head of the Trancy household. From that time, Jim gained a reason for living - finding a wish. "When you have found your wish, we will make a contract" - declared Claude and vanished soon afterwards. And just when he thought it was just another stupid hoax, he landed in a big spider web and a demon in a spider form - Claude Faustus - appeared before him. "Hoheo Taralna, Rondero Tarel" - he said. He found a spider web covered in morning dew and used it to conceal his face. Jim asked him "how do you do it?" and then followed his instructions. As the Queen's guard dog and standing at the top of the British underworld, Ciel solves the crimes plaguing London while waiting for the day of his revenge. When Alois - back then going yet by the name Jim Macken - landed in the Trancy household as one of the 'toys' for the Earl, he overheard one boy saying that "faeries exist" and that "if you make a promise with them, they will grant your wishes". In truth, Sebastian is actually a demon, and in exchange for the boy's soul, the demon will help him exact revenge on those who have wronged him. To others, it seems that the butler is simply the best at his craft, from anticipating his young master's needs to carrying them out to the best of his remarkable abilities, which seem limitless. Ciel returns to the Phantomhive household with an enigmatic black-clad butler, Sebastian Michaelis. He names the demon Sebastian as his childhood dog. He is sold by his kidnappers, and then given a mark on his abdomen called the mark of a "noble beast." After enduring a month of excruciating and humiliating torture, Ciel unknowingly summons a demon and signs a contract with him. The manor was set on fire, and he is captured by cultists. On the night of his tenth birthday, Ciel comes across his mother, father, and dog dead and surrounded by flames. Ciel lives with his wealthy parents in a manor in England. In Victorian-era London lives a young boy named Ciel Phantomhive. WIDE RANGE OF APPLICATIONS- Spiral flute extractors are perfect for common fasteners. After her death, he married Pompeia in 67BC. His first wife was Cornelia, whom he married in 84BC when he was still a teenager. He lived around the red-light district, an area where most of the working class lived. However, he had lost his inheritance by this time, so he was forced to live an ordinary life. When Sulla finally died, Caesar was able to go back to Rome. He was captured by Sulla’s men, but was able to remain free when he bribed them. When Sulla became Rome’s ruler, Caesar had to flee Rome as a fugitive. His biggest rival was Sulla, who, incidentally, is also his father-in-law’s enemy.Īs if to follow tradition, Sulla was also eventually named as one of Caesar’s biggest rivals. Julius Caesar’s father died unexpectedly in 85 BC. He commandeered a group of ships, sought the pirates out, and had them executed. Of course, Julius Caesar was able to seek revenge against his captors. He was later released when the ransom was met. He insisted that he be ransomed at a greater price. However, Caesar was insulted because he thought it was too low. The pirates who kidnapped Julius Caesar already set a ransom for his release. He was on his way to Rome to study when his ship was hijacked somewhere around Asia Minor. Probably one of the most notable stories about Caesar’s life, he was kidnapped by pirates when he was in his mid-20’s. This shows that right from the start, Caesar was already born into affluence and power: something that he never forgot despite the few tragedies in his life. Back then this was the top position in the Roman Republic. His mother, Aurelia Cotta, was the daughter of a Consul. He was the governor of Asia, which was then considered a province and not a continent. Just like him, his father was also named Gaius Julius Caesar. In reality, Julius Caesar came out into the world through normal birth. However, this is not true as that specific procedure, at that time, was only given to women who are already dying in an effort to at least save the child. Rumors say that he was born via caesarean section. Julius Caesar was born on July 13, 100BC and was given the name Gaius Julius Caesar. He was also one – if not the most – critical figure who paved the way towards the rise of the Roman Empire. One of the most influential people of all time, a politician and author, Julius Caesar was integral in the death of the Roman Republic. But not all of them has the same kind of impact that the name Julius Caesar has.
